Emily, Hannah, and Alison have been working hard on some new sweaters for themselves, and their handmade garments have turned out so, so well! Made in fingering weight, worsted, and bulky yarns, these garments are perfect for every occasion – from a day at the lake in the hottest weather, to cool nights camping in the forest. Check out some recent projects made by Knit Picks staff, and if you’re inspired to make a new garment, now is the time to buy the yarn! With 40% off over 600 yarns in our Summer Yarn Sale, you’re sure to find a fiber that will make knitting your next sweater an absolute joy. Now, let’s begin!
Emily made an “Inland” cardigan from Jane Richmond and Shannon Cook’s book “Journey“, available HERE, in Wool of the Andes Bulky, colorway Bluebird. It’s a lovely as a sweater in the colder months that can act as a coat when the weather is warmer. The pocket details are so lovely, too, aren’t they?
Jane Richmond’s patterns are a fan favorite among Knit Picks staff (you can hear an interview with Jane in Episode 247 of our podcast HERE). Hannah also loves her patterns, and knitted up a “Grace” sweater from the book “Island“, available HERE, in Stroll Brights, colorway Pucker. Not only is this cardigan amazing for it’s bright pop of color, but the light fabric made by sock yarn is just perfect for the season.
Speaking of light and breezy, Summer is the season for Lindy Chain. Our gorgeous linen/cotton yarn combines easy care with amazing drape for garments unlike the rest of your hand knitted sweaters. Alison made a Perkins Cove Pullover (Ravelry link HERE) in Lindy Chain, colorway Swan.
Lindy Chain created the most gorgeous stitches, and this is a sweater that can really be dressed up or down, don’t you think?
Finally, Emily went for bold, tonal stripes in this pullover made in Preciosa Yarn. The pattern is Worsted Boxy (pattern HERE, as Ravelry link) and Emily used Preciosa in the color Stormy, with stripes in colors Pokeberry, Canary, and Goldfish.
Emily actually took a class recently with the pattern’s author, Joji Locatelli. She learned many things, and was inspired to knit things she doesn’t usually knit – things you just can’t find in stores. Go Bold! Isn’t that a good thing to remember? Sometimes I feel like I’ve knit the same 3 types of sweaters over and over again.
