Fiddle Knits!

Being the coordinator for the IDP program has really introduced me to some great designers that I may not have been familiar with before.  I mean, I’m a knitter (and, as of late, a crocheter) and over the past couple of years, I’ve been getting many of my project patterns via the web so it was a natural fit for me.  So you can imagine how hard it is for me now to decide what to make next!

One designer I was not familiar with when I first started on IDP back in November 2009 was Erica Jackofsky – but now she’s become one of my very favorite designers and I get excited every time she submits a new pattern.  Her patterns are fantastic – not only are they super cute, but they are honestly really fun to knit (and now crochet, as she recently had a series of crochet patterns released).  I’ve made several of her patterns and they will certainly not be the last. And I finally got pictures in between storms here in the Northwest!

First, I had some Capra in Honey in my stash without a project so I had to make Scalliwag because I wear a lot of hats & especially love slouchy ones.

I love this!  I’ve worn it nearly every single day – I always like a bit of cheerful color on the grey gloomy days of February (and apparently March).  What I love most about this pattern is the construction – it uses short rows to create the slouchy-ness without a ton of extra fabric.

Plus I adore the cabled brim.  I loved it so much I had to make another out of some lovely Madelinetosh in Baltic I bought from our friends at Happy Knits.

Then I bought Erica’s ebook Sweet Treats because I was in love with the Blue Ice Beret – the patterning on top is so neat!  I used my favorite color of Gloss HW – Aegean.

I really love how it turned out.  I wish I had made it a bit longer since it barely covers my ears, but that’s not the pattern’s fault.  I should have measured better! But I think it will be good when it’s not freezing I just want a cute hat to wear.

Then for something completly different – I’ve been doing yoga at home a couple of times a week but my poor feet get so cold – I can’t wear socks or I’ll slide all over the place.  Well, luckily, in the Sweet Treats collections are the Lady Grey Legwarmers – and they are perfect!  I had to make them!

I mean, how cute are these?  I choose the “sugar” version with the star motif and used Capra again in Sea Spray…and my favorite part?  Pompoms!

So these are the first of many projects I’m planning using Erica’s patterns.  Definitely check them out if you looking for a fun knit to do!
