As the coordinator of our IDP collections, the biggest “problem” with my job is the fact that I am constantly surrounded by patterns I want to make RIGHT NOW.  Case in point: last month we released Reclaimed (where I immediately cast on for Addison – I’m about halfway through the body) and the Wool of the Andes Collection (where I have the yarn already for Insulate).  Now we’ve come out with probably my favorite collection to date – I want to knit everything!

First of all, it’s one of my favorite yarns – I’ve loved City Tweed since it was released, even before I worked here.  Second, I adore all 6 of these designers – all of them have been part of the IDP program or our collections for quite awhile and it’s been great getting to know them.  Plus, it features my favorite types of knitwear – cable, texture and a little bit colorwork.  Do you see my dilemma here?

The one that immediately said “knit me NOW” to me is the Cabled Faux Argyle Cardi by the marvelous Stephannie Tallent.

I love love love the cables – it doesn’t hurt it’s also in my favorite color!  I also tend to wear a lot of cardigans, so I’m always on the lookout for great cardi patterns.

While I love cables, I have a tendency to pick projects that I can knit without thinking about (see Addison – stockinette city) – so naturally I was also drawn to Jill Wright’s Chickadee Pullover.

The winters here are mainly just chilly & grey so this would be perfect to throw on while I’m watching old movies on a Sunday afternoon (or football, if I allow my significant other control of the remote).

I love the cover sweater – Stomping Grounds Pullover by Danielle Chalson (cables again!)

I love the look of the single cable in the front and the double cable in the back – it gives it a great unique look.

Terri Kruse’s Chevrons features just enough colorwork for me – while I admire some of the intricate colorwork sweaters I see, I’m much more likely to knit something like this for myself.

Plus I just love the buttons on the collar.  And a cute doggie in the picture!

The City Tweed Collection also features 2 accessories I can never make enough of.  Erica Jackofsky should be a familiar name to most people who have followed the IDP program from the beginning – she was one of the first designers involved and we love working with her & her fantastic designs.  Her Hypatia Cowl was an early favorite around here – great texture and the option of several different sizes makes it perfect cowl for everyone.

And finally, Jen Lucas’s Clarendon Shawl!  I love wearing small shawls in the fall (as I am today in fact) for just a little bit of warmth in the office and this shawl in particular is my favorite type – non fussy and cozy.

I just love all the projects in this collection – and I don’t know how I’m going to get them all done before winter is over.
