Christmas is almost here. Well, if you crochet and knit, that is. This is my first holiday season as a crocheter, and I hope my family and friends are prepared for the sudden shift in the types of gifts I bestow. Goodbye gift cards, hellllooo scarves. Not only will they appreciate the time and effort that is invested in handmade gifts, but I hope to also bedazzle them (all non-crocheters) and receive showers of compliments on my yarny skills. It’s like a gift for myself, too. Win win.
My obsessive nature allows me to fixate exclusively on one pattern at a time, so this season my beloveds will be receiving scarves, all half double crochet through the back loop. This nifty stitch creates a more ‘knit’-like effect, and lends a modern, chic look to the project. I’m quite enraptured with it!
My first scarf that’s actually presentable for public presentation, worked in the lovely and scrumptious Shine cotton yarn:
Currently, I am working three more scarves: one in City Tweed, another in Shine and one in .. (oh no no, can’t tell you! It’s a secret, new yarn, soon to be released!).
Have you started Christmas presents yet? What type of projects are your favorite for gifting?
