Backyard Garden KAL and Contest
by Knit Picks Staff on Apr 29, 2010
Spring is here! It’s a gorgeous sunny spring day in the Pacific Northwest. The sun is shining, my flowers in my garden are still alive (I have a black thumb). I’m not even wearing a coat today!
Speaking of flowers, have you seen our new spring kits that we introduced today? I’m excited about the Backyard Garden kit. I’m much better at knitting flowers than growing them, and these flowers will bloom all year! Kerin is both an amazing gardener and the designer of this kit, and all of the bugs and blooms in this kit are incredibly detailed and realistic looking. Each insect, leaf, or flower in this kit is quite small, only a few inches across, so you can knit a couple of them in an evening.
It was really fun to think of things to embellish with the Backyard Garden kit. Headbands, wreaths, magnets, crib mobiles, flower baskets, even cupcakes! I wrote fifteen new tutorials for different ways I thought you could use the Backyard Garden embellishments. But we’d love to hear what you plan to do with your kits also!
We are having a Backyard Garden contest and giving away five $25 gift certificates! To enter, just join the Knit 1, Give 1 Knit Along, and post here about your plans or ideas for embellishing something with yarn flowers or a Backyard Garden kit. The kit has 10 balls of Palette and 15 patterns, so you have enough yarn to knit multiples of your favorite patterns, and either combine them in a project or give them to a friend as a gift! You have until May 17th to post your flower embellishment idea, and we will announce the winner in the Knitting Community on May 18th.
