What an exciting feeling! to have a pattern you’ve created be posted on the web. Let me intoduce the Dimple Cable Hat and Fingerless Mitts! Also, I now have a great appreciation for all the designers out there… creating a pattern has been an interesting experience for me… but I finally did it!!! (and I have a great model, don’t you think!!!)
I love texture, always have… so it just seemed like the natural direction to go in my first pattern… I created a cable cuff on both the hat and mitts rather than just a band. One of the true lessons I learned with this process is to keep amazingly good notes… yikes!! lots of hair pulling (or complete reknitting) to make sure you get it written down correctly…
The hat has a cabled crown which hides the decreases. And a picot style edging on the mitts will give the finger-edge a firmer feel (no whimpy mitts here!!!)
Another discovery in this process, is to have a good tech editor… My friend Judie, did an awesome job and was a great help to me. [thank you Judie!!!] This has been such a rewarding process… So much so, that I’m finishing up a second pattern and lots of ideas for several more…
So if you have been kicking around the idea, or maybe just now said “I can do that” then you should!! Here’s a link for more information on the IDP program with Knit Picks…
