After months of waiting and nervously registering for classes, the second Sock Summit is finally here! Everyone at the office has been reminiscing about the last Sock Summit, all the fun that was had, and of course – all the sock yarn that was aquired. Funny enough, I catch myself saying “Last year at Sock Summit…” but it was actually two whole years ago! And we are lucky enough to have Sock Summit here in Portland again this summer.
This time around, I was able to sign up for a few classes which I am very excited about. The day of Sock Summit class registration was quite the scene here at Knit Picks! Everyone had their computers queued up, lists of classes and alternates classes, times and dates scribbled on notes. And yes, there was a lot of “is it working for you?” and “did you get through yet?” going on here too. Luckily, after lots of waiting on our registrations to process through, we all got into classes and the excitement officially started. Most of the classes I picked out focus on the heel of a sock. I find that when I knit toe-up socks, I always end up looking up reference patterns or through books to finish up the heel. There were so many interesting heel classes to choose from, and I am really looking forward to breaking down and reconstructing different heels to better my understanding of the toe-up process.
To celebrate all of the Sock Summit excitement, we have two copies of Sock Knitting Master Class by Ann Budd to give away! Not only does this book come with a DVD to help you along, but the two copies we have for the contest are signed by Ann Budd! This book is a really valuable collection of patterns and techniques that any sock knitter will use again and again. All you have to do is
leave a comment on this blog post by 11:59 pm PST on Sunday July 31, 2011 and we
