I’m pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec’s new book “Huge & Huggable Mochimochi“. A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey’s hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP.
We didn’t have the colors I wanted in Brava Bulky here at the offices (which would have been the correct yarn weight according to the pattern) and there’s no way I was going to wait to get what I wanted all the way from the warehouse. This project had to be on my needles, like, yesterday! I grabbed two balls of Brava Worsted Cream and one ball of Cornflower and decided to hold the yarn double to get pretty close to Hrachovec’s gauge. I finished the Roland‘s shell before I even left work for the day and completely finished him within two days! He now spends the day hanging out on the couch and makes an excellent pillow during lazy weekend naps.
I’m looking forward to seeing photos featuring this new collection of super-sized Mochimochi in this year’s Mochimochi Photo Contest. As much as I adore the super cute teeny tiny snowmen and gnomes from past years, I’m giddy with anticipation over the possibility of a photo of Oozy & Bristles, perhaps even paired with the oh-so-cute Squidpocalypse!
And it’s your lucky day! We have 3 copies of Huge & Huggable we would love to give away to some fellow Mochimochi fans. Simply check out the book here or here and and come back here to leave a comment, telling us which adorable creature is your favorite. We’ll draw the winners on Monday November 25th!
Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. We will close the comments at 7am PST November 25th) and select the winners soon after!
As a note, don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away – because of not-very-nice spammers that slip through our filters, we need to approve each comment. So there might be delay, especially over the weekend – but don’t worry, we’ll get your entry!
