So before I start my Christmas knitting in earnest, I had to finish one thing up for myself:

This is my version of the Providence Hoodie from the book New England Knits!  I seem to be on a quest to make every single pattern from the book – this is my third sweater & fourth project overall.  I finished this project up just in time for the cold weather & have been wearing it every day!

Last year when we released the (then) new colors of Wool of the Andes, I was absolutely in love with Aurora Heather – green is my favorite color & I love how this color came out, with very dark green (nearly black) to a medium green.  I immediately knew I wanted to make a sweater out of it. (I can also neither confirm nor deny that this particular color showing up in different yarn lines is because I wouldn’t stop talking about it in our color meetings.)

I love cables & I love hoodies, so the Providence Hoodie was a perfect pattern for this. However, the hood isn’t very big, so it’s more for looks only, which is sad. (considering how much it rains here, we all love our hoodies.)  I do love how the cables look though!

Biggest modification I made was to do the body in stockinette stitch rather than moss stitch.  I just knew I’d never finish it if I tried to do an all over pattern.  I also lengthened the body & sleeves – I’m pretty tall with long arms so I generally add a few inches to all my sweaters.

The buttons came from my LYS Twisted. I think they add a neat little steampunkish look to my sweater. They’re a little heavy but I think I’m going to reinforce the button band so it doesn’t sag as much.

So now that my fall sweater is done, it’s time to work on Christmas gifts!  I have a lot planned out – mainly small projects for my nieces & nephews but a couple of larger ones too!  I’m hoping I can get them all done in time!
