UPDATE 10/6 – Contest is now over! We’ve posted our winners here!
We have not had any summer this year. Most of the days have been rainy and downright cold. I mean fire in the fireplace, raid the winter’s clothes, grab my hot water bottle kind of cold!
With so much bundling up the last couple of “summer” months, I have been astonished by my traditional autumnal urge to nest. All I want to do is sit down, surround myself with yarn, needles and books and knit my way throught to next spring. I hope we have a spring and summer next year!
It turns out that winter is Sally Melville’s favorite season. How do I know it’s her favorite time of year? By reading her introduction to Warm Knits, Cool Gifts.
Sally, and her daughter, Caddy, celebrate the joys of giving warmth to friends and family with a collection of more than 35 designs. Each design has a story that Caddy or Sally share with you. My favorite is The Cardigan Caddy Really Wanted where Caddy talks about always asking her mother to knit her a “plain” cardigan. Sally just can’t knit plain so Caddy’s childhood memories involve intricate colored and/or heavily textured sweaters. As a “grown-up” Caddy designed the cardigan she always wanted. It does have texture but it is just a nice, simple repeat.
Whether you are feeling the need to whip up a comforting hat or are planning your holiday gift knitting, you will be well on your way with Warm Knits, Cool Gifts.
I have seven copies of Sally and Caddy’s book to give away. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post. I’ll announce the winners on Monday, October 4th.
