Harmony needles are no different than a fine piece of furniture. They need a bit of oil to keep them nourished and smooth. Funny thing, my hands need the same thing.

When I am knitting, I often feel my hands becoming dry as I knit. That’s because the the washed, natural fibers in the yarn do pull oil from my hands. I’ve discovered that rubbing a bit of Burt’s Bees Hand Salve into my hands and then continuing with my knitting takes care of my hands and Harmony Wood needles. The salve doesn’t hurt the fiber. If I happen to be using our Options Nickel Plated tips or Zephyr tips, they aren’t hurt by the oil if I still want to use some on my hands.

Two very important bonus points. Burt’s Bees products are sold everywhere. I’ve picked up the hand salve at Safeway, Whole Foods, Rite-Aid and even Borders. The salve comes in a large cannister to keep at home and little tins to distribute among your various knitting bags/projects.
