So have you checked out our newest yarn Biggo yet?

We’ve been really excited about this yarn – it’s an uber soft superwash merino & nylon blend so it’s perfect for kids or any projects that need to be easy care.  Plus it’s bulky weight – projects just fly off of your needles or hooks!

I have a lovely friend who is having a baby soon so it was a perfect to time try out Biggo for myself!

Last year I made 4 or 5 Boo Bear hats out of Swish Bulky for several friends’ babies (warning, if you make one of these, you will get requests from other mothers to make more. At least that’s what happened to me – but I didn’t mind.)  I love the pattern so much so I thought I’d try it out in Biggo.

A success I think!  It’s just as soft & cushy as the ones I made last year but this one seems a bit denser, probably due to the tighter gauge I was knitting.  I really love how it turned out & Biggo was great to work with – to be honest, there are a couple of other wool blends yarns I’ve used but I didn’t really care for them. Biggo is much much nicer.  I used the color Reindeer Heather and a bit of Swish worsted for the pompoms. 

Since I had about a quarter of a skein left, I thought, well why not some booties too?

This is a free pattern called 2-Needle Baby Booties (Ravelry link) I found on Ravelry.  I used size 4 needles so they are dense! They should keep the little footsies warm!  I crocheted a bit of the Swish on these rather than tying a ribbon.

So now I have a nice little present for the new little guy & my friend doesn’t have to worry if they get dirty because they are fully machine washable!  I think this will be a perfect yarn for gifts for my nieces & nephews (ages 5-12) this year.  And maybe a cushy sweater for myself!  I was thinking The Kate Cardi would be a really cute little cardigan to have here when our office gets a little too chilly.
