After a long, dreary winter, we’re finally starting to get some sun in the Pacific Northwest! Pulling out my sandals and sundresses has me thinking about my summer knitting plans. I’m working on a Cordelia tank top in Paragon in Rouge, and I’ve been eyeing a few other sleeveless projects. Especially ones with a loose and easy silhouette, with plant fibers for breathability to counteract those sticky days. I’ve recently gotten into knitting shawls and wraps too https://rusbank.net/offers/microloans/zaym_na_kartu, and I think they’re a great option for summer knitting, especially when they’re small enough to travel! Below are a few of my favorite summer patterns:
I love the A-line shape of this top, and the decorative split up the back means there’s plenty of ventilation! It’s knit in Lindy Chain, which just gets softer and softer over time because of the linen in it. It’s a great basic that would go well with shorts or jeans on a cooler day, and complement a lot of cardigans I already own. It’d be great TV knitting too, since it’s in stockinette with a simple garter border. Best of all, it’s a free pattern download!
Also knit in Lindy Chain, I love the little lace touches on this tank top, with its slight A-line shape and scoop neck. It’s just the right amount to add interest while knitting this, but there’s still enough relaxing stockinette for when I don’t want to think too much. This is just one of the fabulous garments in our Sunday Morning pattern collection.
I love our new Stroll Gradient yarn, and this gorgeous shawl is the perfect project to show off my favorite colorway- Candy Necklace! It’s a one-skein project, so it’s great for traveling, and the mesh–like all over lace is not too difficult for lace novices like myself. And it’s a free pattern!
Although I’ve never knitted socks OR done colorwork, I really fell in love with these eccentric socks when they came into our office as part of our newest sock collection, Artful Arches. There is just something about the combination of Stroll Hand Paint in Red Wing Blackbird and Stroll Brights in Electric Blue. Socks, being so portable and small, are great summer knitting since they won’t cover your lap in wool and they’re a snap to travel with. Plus, when the weather gets chilly again, you’ll have a new pair of socks to warm up your feet!
