This week’s free dishcloth pattern is a great way to practice cable designs – check out the Taj Dishcloth by the talented Joyce Fassbender!
The Taj Dishcloth has a beautiful cable medallion surrounded by a garter stitch background and a braided border. This unique dishcloth may take a little more work than some of our other free dishcloths but I think it’s worth it. I can see this used as decorative coaster as well as a fancy cleaning cloth! Or pick a heavier yarn and go up a few needle sizes and make yourself a fun wall hanging – for instance, this pattern calls for CotLin with a size 5 (3.75mm) needle but I’m planning to make it larger with Wool of the Andes Bulky and a size 10 (6mm) needle to hang on my wall. Playing with different yarn weights is one of my favorite things to do to change up a pattern – have fun with it!
