In Loving Memory

Xena_1

Xena has been a member of the Knit Picks family for as long as I can remember – serving as our iconic (and epically cute!) mascot, yarn ambassador and occasional actress.

Xena was also an extremely loyal companion, only straying from Kelley’s side to stroll the office and check out the day’s activities. She loved apples, being wrapped up in blankets and snuggling with Kelley as she was knitting away. And although Xena is no longer with us, we will always cherish our memories and look back fondly at her time with us.

In honor of Xena, we’ve collected a few photos from throughout the years for everyone to enjoy.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss, Kelley. You’re in my thoughts. I feel like I knew Xena, reading and hearing about her on your blog and podcast.

  2. I had to force myself to read this, as we are on the cusp of making a decision for my 15 yr., 8 month cat.
My thoughts go out to all of you who are left behind. The little ones are the ‘makers’ of the routine which is, now, to be broken. And, we all know how humans hate to be taken out of our routine! I sympathize with your heartbreak.

  3. So sorry to hear about Xena’s passing…I loved seeing her in some of the older issues of the magazine. She will certainly be missed!

  4. Xena was fortunate to have been so well loved-not all pets are as lucky! My thoughts and sympathies are with you, her family and friends at this sad time.

  5. So sorry for your loss, but glad you had the delight of working along a furry friend for so long. We have an office dog at my work too, and I can’t imagine how we would get on without her!

  6. I know how you feel. I just lost my beautiful white Persian after 14 years. It really hurts, but you know he is in a better place and not hurting anymore. I am so sorry for you loss.

  7. I am so sorry for your loss and can say I know what you are going through. I lost my Olie (9year old cat) suddenly… within a month we also a lab due to old age and dachshund due to being bitten by a rattle snake.. it was awful and tragic. my heart goes out to you all,

  9. So sorry for your loss. Some of the greatest pleasures in my life are my sweet babies. It is heartbreaking to lose such a loyal and faithful companion.

  10. You have all my sympathies. I know too well the hole that is left in one’s soul when such a sweet, loving creature is taken from us. Like snowflakes, each one of them is absolutely unique and special. Little Xena is not lost, she will run and play and be happy again.

  11. So sorry to hear you’ve lost your little companion She’ll be waiting for all of you on the other side of the rainbow.

  12. So sorry. I know the pain of losing a beloved pet. She is in Heaven now, and her new life is filled with fields of yarn. I won’t tell you the whole story, but in 1994 I had an Near Death Experience. There were animals there. But, most importantly, my cat Obie was there waiting for me. You will see Xena again!

  13. So sorry to hear of the lose of a real beautiful friend. I know how it hurts. I lost one who was 13 and then one who was 17. Of course I said, “no more” ! And here I am with my loveable/ornery black toy poodle, who is only 2!!! May your Xena never leave your memory . Mar18

  14. Awwww, so sorry to hear such sad news. Xena was adorable. I am sure she has a lot of good yarn stories to tell in heaven.

  15. Pomeranians are the best. Sounds like she had a perfect life. I know she’ll be missed by all, because she was a great dog!!

  16. Oh no! I loved hearing about little Xena! I’m so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed. She was a sweet little doggie.

  17. I am so sorry for your loss! She had the best life a doggie could have AND she was surrounded by wonderful yarn…

  18. So sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved family member. Such a sweetheart, and such a great life, and how she enriched yours… truly you and she were so lucky…

  19. I know how you feel. I love my cats and when they pass away or I have to put them down it is like losing a person. You grieve in the same way.

Like the other lady said, give yourself a great big hug.

  20. Good bye, Xena!
Thank you for delighting me with your sweet barks every time I put on the podcast. You will be missed.

  21. What a beautiful little furball. I know she will be missed something awful as they always are. They are family members after all. My daughter has a honey colored pom, and he is just precious. His name is Chester, but I call him Fuzzbutt!

  22. I am the owner of a now 11 year old male (cream colored) pomeranian. Loved seeing Xena as she reminded me of my little one. So sorry to hear of her passing. She will be greatly missed!

  23. A Darling little Female version of our Darling Mini. Mini lost his best friend, Jack, (larger version of Mini also white Pom) earlier this year and your Xena departed this world on the anniversary of our Darling Jack’s 14th birthday, 17th October. I’m sure they have already by now met in their doggy afterlife shady spot under a tree or in a yarn basket and are busy swapping ‘Pomeranian only’ stories! You heart must be breaking as ours still is! But she will always be in your heart!

  24. I am so sorry. I love Kelly’s comments about Zena on her podcast. I just lost my cat. She was my knitting buddy. I know what a large hole such a small creature can leave.

  25. My dear part Pom from a shelter is almost as beautiful as your Zena and we both send our condolences to you. What would we do without our dear little friends? Jean
