Capretta is Capra’s fingering weight sibling and is a blend of 80% Fine Merino/10% Cashmere/10% Nylon. The addition of nylon makes it ideal for super soft socks but it’s also well suited for fine-gauge knits like scarves, cowls, mitts and even lightweight yet warm cardigans. When looking into the background of this week’s free dishcloth pattern, the super cute Hipacious Houndstooth Dishcloth, I learned some fun facts. First, the oldest known occurrence of the unique checked pattern was a cloak dated between 360 and 100 BC in Sweden, though contemporary patterns were to have originated in Scotland. Second,the smaller scale version of the pattern is called puppytooth, which delights me to no end.
Cabling seems to be that rare and perfect crafting technique: essentially simple, but seemingly infinite in its potential complexity. Not content to rest on the historical laurels of ganseys, arans, and traditional cables, our newest collection pushes into this inexhaustible expanse of possibility to elevate the cable to new heights of fashion.
