Are you an impractical crafter?

Hi Knit Picks Lovers!

We’re exploring a new format for our podcast, and would love your contributions to upcoming shows. We’ll be posting about topics and if they pertain to you, we’d love to hear from you! Here is the first:

The Impractical Crafter
Did you knit a footstool that flattened beneath your feet, or crocheted a bikini never to be worn?
We’re looking for examples of knitting/crochet or any other yarn crafts you’ve made that have no practical purpose whatsoever.

Email your story to podcast@knitpicks.com. We’d love to see a photo of your impractical craft, if you have one.
If we feature your story on our podcast, you’ll win a fabulous yarn sampler!

Eight new colors are here to spice up your knits! Stroll Brights Special Reserve is the same wonderful sock yarn base in set of super bright colorways. Remember, Special Reserve means they’ll only be around while we have stock so grab some while you can! I snatched one ball of Pucker as soon as we opened the box of samples because it’s just SO BRIGHT and wonderful, there’s no way I could pass it up. I knew right away that I wanted to do a Color Affection shawl with a bright pop of color and the screaming pink was perfect for it.

Lovely to meet you!
Emily_2014_small
Hi! I’m Emily, and I’m the new graphic designer here at Knit Picks. I’m so excited to be able to combine my passion for knitting and the handmade with my love for design. It’s incredibly inspiring to spend my days surrounded by yarn, needles, new patterns, and the creativity of my co-workers. It’s so inspiring, in fact, that in the short time since I’ve joined the team, I’ve already cast on for two new projects, and my to-knit list has gotten substantially longer!

Peach Margot

Spring is HERE! Finally! The change in weather means I’ve been reaching for bright, cheery yarns. I’ve had a skein each of Cotlin Flamingo and Conch on my desk since we started this series of dishcloth patterns and I succumbed to their siren call for Peach Margot Dishcloth pattern. I LOVE how chipper they are together, especially in the Catherine Wheel stitch (one of my all time traditional favorites). This dishcloth reminds me of photos I’ve seen of flamingos in flight, all wings and necks.

Yarn Madness Round 5 – the Final Four

We are down to our Final Four!  In the last round, Comfy and Billow were neck and neck for most of the round, until Comfy surged ahead in the final hours with 55% of the vote.  And Cotlin trounced Dishie with 72% of the vote, so the two cotton “C”s are moving on to the Final Four!  Here’s the updated bracket.
