So, how are those resolutions going?

Progress is delicious!

OK, admit it. It’s the beginning of March – you’ve probably forgotten what your knitting resolutions even were for this year. I mean, isn’t that the point of resolutions? You’re supposed to forget aaaaaallll about them till about December 15.

Well, unless you’re me and you’re completely out of your mind. Why do I say that? Because not only do I have lofty goals for this year, but I have all of them. Pretty much. Ok, let me explain.

So, I have one of those stashes that could probably eat me in my sleep. It’s huge and out of control, and I knew that this year, dadgummit, I am going to get it under control. I am going to stashbust this year. That’s how my resolution started. Then I saw a few other challenges posted in Ravelry. What about 100 balls of yarn? Heck, sure! that’s less than 10% of my stash, but doable. Then I saw 100 PROJECTS? yeah sure! That sounds great! And while I’m at it, how about 111 projects in 2011? that’s only 11 more. And if I’m going to do that, I might as well do 12 sweaters in 12 months. That sure makes my annual 20 pairs of socks seam like kid stuff! Awwright!

Not like I’m biting off more than I can chew, right? Hey, my husband says I have a big mouth, so I can chew a lot. And here’s the food for thought:
111 projects, of which:
-100 are knitted
-12 are adult sized sweaters
-20 are socks

That’s totally doable. Now you want to know the kicker?

All of it will be knit from stash, with no patterns! If you think that’s nuts, Check out my progress.

So far, that’s three sweaters, two pair of socks, a scarf, and 19 hats! Only one of the hats (the grey one with blue stripes) is not going to charity; that was for my brother-in-law. But the rest have either been sent to charity or will be sent at the end of this month. And all of this has been made from stash, quite a bit of it from leftovers. I’m now just over halfway through a third pair of socks for the year – my 26th knitted project.

When I told my husband about all these goals, he looked at me with concern and asked if I’d lost my mind. I had to remind him that it’s not certain whether I had a mind to begin with, so hey, nothing to lose! He promptly requested a sweater. And that is the last two months in a nutshell.

How are you doing on your new year’s resolutions? Have you completely forgotten them yet? Need some friendly prodding to make some progress? I’d love to hear all about it!
