Season Shifting Knit Projects

Independent Designer Project Round Up

Summer is definitely winding down… the days are shorter, the evenings a bit cooler, and the kids are back in school. Whether this makes you happy or sad, autumn is just around the corner. In preparation for the leaves turning colors and pumpkin-spice flavored everything, I thought I’d do a little round up of season shifting knit projects from Independent Designers to help us transition from lazy summer days to crisp fall nights.

seson shifting knits pie crust shawlette

This simple yet stunning shawlette is easy to knit and uses just one ball of Chroma Fingering yarn. Theressa Silver’s Pie Crust Shawlette is perfect for keeping the chill off your shoulders in the late summer evenings, and as the weather turns colder you can wrap it double around your neck as a scarf.

Shifting Seasons Knit Projects Kesh Mitts

Luise O’Neill’s delicately cabled fingerless mitts are just beautiful, don’t you think? Knit in luxurious Capretta yarn, lightweight Kesh Fingerless Mitts are perfect for fall weather. I’ve pinned this pattern for my Christmas knitting list!

Season Shifting Knit Projects Abrigado

If your family is anything like mine, they love to snuggle under a cozy blanket! Abrigado means “wrapped up” in Spanish, and that’s exactly what you’ll want to do with this blanket designed by Kristen Jancuk. This project knits up quick in bulky yarn; try it in Brava, Biggo or Mighty Stitch.

Shifting Seasons Knit Projects Diamonds

I couldn’t leave the crochet enthusiasts out! Deja Detmer’s Diamonds Beanie and Mitts pattern is a great stash-buster featuring Palette yarn.
