Roland and the Huge & Huggable Mochimochi Giveaway

Comments for the giveaway are now closed & we will draw a winner very soon!

20131013_0017

I’m pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec’s new book “Huge & Huggable Mochimochi“. A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey’s hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP.

20131013_0021

We didn’t have the colors I wanted in Brava Bulky here at the offices (which would have been the correct yarn weight according to the pattern) and there’s no way I was going to wait to get what I wanted all the way from the warehouse. This project had to be on my needles, like, yesterday! I grabbed two balls of Brava Worsted Cream and one ball of Cornflower and decided to hold the yarn double to get pretty close to Hrachovec’s gauge. I finished the Roland‘s shell before I even left work for the day and completely finished him within two days! He now spends the day hanging out on the couch and makes an excellent pillow during lazy weekend naps.

I’m looking forward to seeing photos featuring this new collection of super-sized Mochimochi in this year’s Mochimochi Photo Contest. As much as I adore the super cute teeny tiny snowmen and gnomes from past years, I’m giddy with anticipation over the possibility of a photo of Oozy & Bristles, perhaps even paired with the oh-so-cute Squidpocalypse!

And it’s your lucky day!  We have 3 copies of Huge & Huggable we would love to give away to some fellow Mochimochi fans.  Simply check out the book here or here and and come back here to leave a comment, telling us which adorable creature is your favorite.  We’ll draw the winners on Monday November 25th!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts or on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+, Ravelry, etc.) will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments at 7am PST November 25th) and select the winners soon after!

As a note, don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away – because of not-very-nice spammers that slip through our filters, we need to approve each comment. So there might be delay, especially over the weekend – but don’t worry, we’ll get your entry!

  11. CatieP / November 24, 2013

It is so hard to narrow it down to just 1 pattern – I adore Lupe and Squidpocalypse

  12. Lisa F. Leard / November 24, 2013

Gotta love that Capybara Caravan. So cute!

  13. Lee Wells / November 24, 2013

Don’t ask which pattern I’d knit first; they are all marvelous! (although the hamburger seems like a lot of fun. so is the teddy bear) In some ways the larger scale projects would be easier for me to knit than the tiny Mochimochi are. All her designs are amazing. Lee

  14. Carmen / November 24, 2013

My favorites are nesting birds and Barry & Theo

  15. KMaldonado / November 24, 2013

I love Arthur the gigantic pencil!

  17. Mary M. / November 23, 2013

  19. Tish Dudevoir / November 23, 2013

Squidpocalypse. No Roland. No, wait it’s Lupe. No, no it’s definitely the capybara. Aaah! Can’t choose just one! I already have the teeny tiny books and the super scary book and have up and down-sized several of the patterns. Can’t wait to Super-size.

  20. Audrey / November 23, 2013

This was such a hard choice… To choose my favorite. I love them all! But I think if I had to choose it would be the cityzens… So adorable!

  21. Beth / November 23, 2013

    The pink squid!

  22. Elizabeth / November 23, 2013

They are all so cute it is tough to choose just one but for now it is USS Bubbles. Wow! That was tough.

I love the nesting birds! They are so cute, I can’t wait to get this book and get knitting!

  24. Melissa / November 23, 2013

I love USS Bubbles…I would love to make these for birthday gift but I don’t think they make a gift bag big enough to put any of them in.

  25. Marion Stamparnell / November 23, 2013

Oh, my gosh, Roland is cute, but WHO could resist the guinea pig family? A whole family of sweet, cuddly guinea pigs romping around the house without a worry of lamp cords getting chewed, oh, I want them.

  26. Lorraine Maas / November 23, 2013

Love the stacking birds. They all look fun!

I love the Nesting Birds. Sooo cute!

  33. Amy / November 23, 2013

I love knitting Mochimochi toys! My favorite is actually one of the simplest, Grass.

  34. Crystal / November 23, 2013

It would have to be the capybara, but I would be lying if I didn’t say it was a fight between that in the sleepbot.

  35. Lauren D / November 23, 2013

CAPYBARA CARAVAN! Sorry for the shouting, but I love capybaras! The squid is a close second.

  36. Sandi / November 23, 2013

I love Roary! Love the “scary” tongue. so cute!!

  37. Tia / November 23, 2013

I love the sleepbot 3000, especially the pocket as I sometimes listen to music as I fall asleep, perfect for keeping my iPod from falling off the bed!

  38. Rebecca L / November 23, 2013

I absolutely love Totes Adorbs because it’s not only a cute huge mochimochi, it’s functional too as a tote bag!

  39. G. K. Green / November 23, 2013

My favorite is Roary, the baby dinosaur … Love both the construction of the design and the result! Thank you for the giveaway!

  40. Amber / November 22, 2013

Bear, squid, capybara… all kind of hard to choose between. I guess I pick Squidpocalypse, very cool.

  41. jean / November 22, 2013

  46. Jenna / November 22, 2013

It’s a tie between the knitting bear and the cheeseburger. Lol. Cheeseburger.

  47. Timofeo / November 22, 2013

    Mind blowing when huge!

  48. Johnna / November 22, 2013

Squidpocalypse is my personal favorite, but since my 4-year-old is obsessed with roly-polies, Roland is probably the first creature I would make!

  49. Julie Routon / November 22, 2013

Very cute. . .a little one will love it!!!

  50. Ashley Clark / November 22, 2013

Agh, Squiocalypse! I love anything squids, and a giant squid for my couch would be the perfect thing to flop on after a long work day!

I think Roary might be my favorite, though it is tough to choose.

  54. K. Stephen Nelson / November 22, 2013

Squee the salty/sweet pirate. Being a single guy, this would fit my decor better than a giant bug or squid!

  55. Kim / November 22, 2013

It has to be Roland! I had a tank full of pillbugs as classroom pets in my (high school) biology classroom. Unfortunately, the cockroaches staged a coup, so the entire tank had to be emptied outside. At least my pillbugs got to be released in the wild 🙁

  56. Sara / November 22, 2013

How can you expect us to pick just one??
I guess if I had to pick I would say Lupe. How can you not love a colorful pinata?
I also have plans to make Arthur, the huge pencil, for my daughters first grade class. So cute!

It’s such a hard choice – they are all so fantastic! I’ve been in love with the Capybaras since Anna showed them on her blog a while back, but the nesting birds are fabulous too 🙂

  62. Sarah / November 22, 2013

    Roland is my favorite!

  63. Suzette / November 22, 2013

A knitted pinata? How clever is that? And a capybara? And a totem pole? Is there anything that Anna Hrachovec can’t think up and knit an adorable version of?

  64. Joleen B / November 22, 2013

I love Lupe and Squidpocolypse. I would probably have to make the cheeseburger for my son who loves cheeseburgers. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love the mochimochi books! This is the only one I don’t have! I’d knit the sun first in bright colours to cheer up my under-the-eaves knitting room. 🙂

  513. Christine Bewley / November 20, 2013

I love Dawn the Sun and the submarine, U.S.S. Bubbles! And Arthur the pencil would make a great teacher gift!

  514. Ginger / November 20, 2013

As cute as the capybaras already are, I think with the judicious application of some intarsia colors I could make them look like my guinea pigs. Yes, yes I could! Those are my favorites. 🙂

  515. Jen M. / November 20, 2013

Oh man, the capybara caravan is perfect! But Roland is awesome too! Such fun!

  516. Midge / November 20, 2013

I am in love with all of them, can’t wait to make some for the grandbabies <3

  517. Jennifer / November 20, 2013

  518. Cherie Williams / November 20, 2013

I really want to make one of the rolly bugs!!!

  520. Diana / November 20, 2013

Think my favorites are Squidpocalypse and Capybara Caravan. Or maybe Lupe.

  521. Sarah / November 20, 2013

Well, I am in love with them all and so is my son. As soon as he saw this book he made a wish list, just like he has done with her other books.
Roland is at the VERY top of his list, and if I don’t win this book, I will have to purchase this book son or else I may have a VERY upset 6 year old boy.

  522. Stephanie Elsner / November 20, 2013

I LOVE all of the patterns, but Roland is def my favorite! I love mochimochi patterns!

  523. Melfina / November 20, 2013

Oh, wow, I have to choose just one? Cityzens are great, but man, all of them are adorable!

  524. Amber L / November 20, 2013

    I LOVE THE CAPYBARA.

    Love the book.

  525. Jennifer H. / November 20, 2013

OH MY GOSH! My 2 eight year olds would love everything in this book. I’m partial to the Sleepbot and Roland.

  526. Luisa Leme / November 20, 2013

Yes to the tooth brush and paste!
    I want to make those!

  527. Allison / November 20, 2013

OMG is that a totem pole?!?! Love. Also, the capybaras are adorable. And the submarine. And pretty much everything.

  528. Summer / November 20, 2013

I adore the octopus and the guinea pig family. So much fun!

  529. Julie / November 20, 2013

    Sleepbot!

  530. Kelly Jones / November 20, 2013

  531. Sharon B. / November 20, 2013

I love the birdies in the tree. However, the burger is really speaking to me. Could I add bacon?

  532. Sheigla / November 20, 2013

I love all of these, but I think the Capybara caravan is my favorite!

  533. Leah / November 20, 2013

  534. arteconsobras / November 20, 2013

Roland is super cute… but I think I like USS Bubbles best. It’s a close call though!

  535. Renee Wood / November 20, 2013

I want them all! The pill bug for my daughter, squid for my bestie, and the rest are mine!

  536. Rebekah / November 20, 2013

  542. Marissa / November 20, 2013

I would totally make a giant capybara clan!

  543. Gabriella / November 20, 2013

Sleepbot 3000. If I were a machine, this would be me.

  544. Cherish / November 20, 2013

OH. MY WORD. The cuteness literally HURTS with this collection! I’m totally torn between Roary and Barry & Theo for my favorites. I have two little nieces who would adore the bears as a set they can share, but I also know the older niece would find Roary utterly hilarious!

  545. Kate / November 20, 2013

    Definitely love the capybara!

  546. Brooke Lamoreaux / November 20, 2013

As cute and all as the teeny tiny Mochi creations are, I was stoked when I saw we were going to think BIG for this book! They’re all “totes adorbs” but I think at the moment my favorite is Roary (do I risk a Miley Cyrus joke here? No… the world needs no more of those), the sassy-saurus.

  547. Rosalie / November 20, 2013

I’m in love with the cake.

  548. Suzanne / November 20, 2013

I Love all her books, but this one really takes the cake!!! -see what I did there=)

i love the burger and roland! and the giant squid and everything!!

  550. Tera / November 20, 2013

So hard to choose! I think my fave is the capybara. So weird and cute.

  551. mszany1 / November 20, 2013

I love them all! my favorites are probably the guinea pigs at the school bus, or the roly poly!!!

  552. Anna / November 20, 2013

I want to make the giant sun!
