Roland and the Huge & Huggable Mochimochi Giveaway

Comments for the giveaway are now closed & we will draw a winner very soon!

I’m pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec’s new book “Huge & Huggable Mochimochi“. A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey’s hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP.

We didn’t have the colors I wanted in Brava Bulky here at the offices (which would have been the correct yarn weight according to the pattern) and there’s no way I was going to wait to get what I wanted all the way from the warehouse. This project had to be on my needles, like, yesterday! I grabbed two balls of Brava Worsted Cream and one ball of Cornflower and decided to hold the yarn double to get pretty close to Hrachovec’s gauge. I finished the Roland‘s shell before I even left work for the day and completely finished him within two days! He now spends the day hanging out on the couch and makes an excellent pillow during lazy weekend naps.

I’m looking forward to seeing photos featuring this new collection of super-sized Mochimochi in this year’s Mochimochi Photo Contest. As much as I adore the super cute teeny tiny snowmen and gnomes from past years, I’m giddy with anticipation over the possibility of a photo of Oozy & Bristles, perhaps even paired with the oh-so-cute Squidpocalypse!

And it’s your lucky day!  We have 3 copies of Huge & Huggable we would love to give away to some fellow Mochimochi fans.  Simply check out the book here or here and and come back here to leave a comment, telling us which adorable creature is your favorite.  We’ll draw the winners on Monday November 25th!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts or on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+, Ravelry, etc.) will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments at 7am PST November 25th) and select the winners soon after!

As a note, don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away – because of not-very-nice spammers that slip through our filters, we need to approve each comment. So there might be delay, especially over the weekend – but don’t worry, we’ll get your entry!

I think Roary might be my favorite, though it is tough to choose.

  2. Ang / November 22, 2013

The capybaras. And the squid. And definitely the capybaras.

  3. mamagriffith / November 22, 2013

  4. Ashley Clark / November 22, 2013

Agh, Squiocalypse! I love anything squids, and a giant squid for my couch would be the perfect thing to flop on after a long work day!

  5. Julie Routon / November 22, 2013

Very cute. . .a little one will love it!!!

  6. Johnna / November 22, 2013

Squidpocalypse is my personal favorite, but since my 4-year-old is obsessed with roly-polies, Roland is probably the first creature I would make!

  7. Timofeo / November 22, 2013

    Mind blowing when huge!

  8. Jenna / November 22, 2013

It’s a tie between the knitting bear and the cheeseburger. Lol. Cheeseburger.

  9. Hanasaurusrex / November 22, 2013

Oh man! They are all amazing!!! Lupe and Roland and Squidpocalypse are my faves for sure… but they are all wonderful. :D soooo much awesomeness! I can totally understand how you could hear exclamations from space for this!

Have to make the pirate for my sofa. And Roary. And the Squid. And…

  14. Amber / November 22, 2013

Bear, squid, capybara… all kind of hard to choose between. I guess I pick Squidpocalypse, very cool.

  15. G. K. Green / November 23, 2013

My favorite is Roary, the baby dinosaur … Love both the construction of the design and the result! Thank you for the giveaway!

  16. Rebecca L / November 23, 2013

I absolutely love Totes Adorbs because it’s not only a cute huge mochimochi, it’s functional too as a tote bag!

  17. Tia / November 23, 2013

I love the sleepbot 3000, especially the pocket as I sometimes listen to music as I fall asleep, perfect for keeping my iPod from falling off the bed!

  18. Sandi / November 23, 2013

I love Roary! Love the “scary” tongue. so cute!!

  19. Lauren D / November 23, 2013

CAPYBARA CARAVAN! Sorry for the shouting, but I love capybaras! The squid is a close second.

  20. Crystal / November 23, 2013

It would have to be the capybara, but I would be lying if I didn’t say it was a fight between that in the sleepbot.

  21. Amy / November 23, 2013

I love knitting Mochimochi toys! My favorite is actually one of the simplest, Grass.

  22. Beth M / November 23, 2013

I love the Nesting Birds. Sooo cute!

  23. Abby / November 23, 2013

Holy cow, I love Roary. I have a 9 month old little monster (the cute kind of monster, not the scary kind) and he was a dinosaur for Halloween. Wouldn’t that be the perfect toy for him?

  24. Clara / November 23, 2013

I think the capybara caravan is precious!

  25. Eva / November 23, 2013

I love the squid and the baby dino

Love the stacking birds. They all look fun!

  29. Marion Stamparnell / November 23, 2013

Oh, my gosh, Roland is cute, but WHO could resist the guinea pig family? A whole family of sweet, cuddly guinea pigs romping around the house without a worry of lamp cords getting chewed, oh, I want them.

  30. Melissa / November 23, 2013

I love USS Bubbles…I would love to make these for birthday gift but I don’t think they make a gift bag big enough to put any of them in.

  31. Amanda / November 23, 2013

I love the nesting birds! They are so cute, I can’t wait to get this book and get knitting!

  32. Elizabeth / November 23, 2013

They are all so cute it is tough to choose just one but for now it is USS Bubbles. Wow! That was tough.

  33. Beth / November 23, 2013

    The pink squid!

  34. Audrey / November 23, 2013

This was such a hard choice… To choose my favorite. I love them all! But I think if I had to choose it would be the cityzens… So adorable!

  35. Tish Dudevoir / November 23, 2013

Squidpocalypse. No Roland. No, wait it’s Lupe. No, no it’s definitely the capybara. Aaah! Can’t choose just one! I already have the teeny tiny books and the super scary book and have up and down-sized several of the patterns. Can’t wait to Super-size.

  36. Ellen / November 23, 2013

Love Anna’s creativity! It’s a very cute book!

  37. Mary M. / November 23, 2013

Oh my, I think I MUST have that knit sunshine! Also I think I saw a giant pencil in those photos, that would also be on my list. =)

  38. Bethany / November 24, 2013

I love Arthur the gigantic pencil!

  39. KMaldonado / November 24, 2013

How amazingly cute! Reminds me of the character in Alice and Wonderland.

  40. Carmen / November 24, 2013

My favorites are nesting birds and Barry & Theo

  41. Lee Wells / November 24, 2013

Don’t ask which pattern I’d knit first; they are all marvelous! (although the hamburger seems like a lot of fun. so is the teddy bear) In some ways the larger scale projects would be easier for me to knit than the tiny Mochimochi are. All her designs are amazing. Lee

  42. Lisa F. Leard / November 24, 2013

Gotta love that Capybara Caravan. So cute!

  43. CatieP / November 24, 2013

It is so hard to narrow it down to just 1 pattern – I adore Lupe and Squidpocalypse

  44. Erin / November 24, 2013
