Roland and the Huge & Huggable Mochimochi Giveaway

Comments for the giveaway are now closed & we will draw a winner very soon!

I’m pretty sure that you could hear my exclamations from SPACE when we got our first copy of Anna Hrachovec’s new book “Huge & Huggable Mochimochi“. A giant stuffed tooth brush and tooth paste tube? YES PLEASE. An enormous pink squid driving a car?? You had me at Squidpocalypse. Page after page of incredibly cute knits had me clapping my hands and giggling with delight until we reached the page with Roland the rolly bug lounging in his folding chair. At this point, my brain exploded and I had to restrain myself from ripping the book out of Stacey’s hands and making a copy of the pattern to take home over the weekend so that I could have my very own Roland ASAP.

We didn’t have the colors I wanted in Brava Bulky here at the offices (which would have been the correct yarn weight according to the pattern) and there’s no way I was going to wait to get what I wanted all the way from the warehouse. This project had to be on my needles, like, yesterday! I grabbed two balls of Brava Worsted Cream and one ball of Cornflower and decided to hold the yarn double to get pretty close to Hrachovec’s gauge. I finished the Roland‘s shell before I even left work for the day and completely finished him within two days! He now spends the day hanging out on the couch and makes an excellent pillow during lazy weekend naps.

I’m looking forward to seeing photos featuring this new collection of super-sized Mochimochi in this year’s Mochimochi Photo Contest. As much as I adore the super cute teeny tiny snowmen and gnomes from past years, I’m giddy with anticipation over the possibility of a photo of Oozy & Bristles, perhaps even paired with the oh-so-cute Squidpocalypse!

And it’s your lucky day!  We have 3 copies of Huge & Huggable we would love to give away to some fellow Mochimochi fans.  Simply check out the book here or here and and come back here to leave a comment, telling us which adorable creature is your favorite.  We’ll draw the winners on Monday November 25th!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts or on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, G+, Ravelry, etc.) will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments at 7am PST November 25th) and select the winners soon after!

As a note, don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away – because of not-very-nice spammers that slip through our filters, we need to approve each comment. So there might be delay, especially over the weekend – but don’t worry, we’ll get your entry!

I love Roland! He’s the main reason I want the book. My nephew loves roly-polies and would LOVE a giant version

  3. Kim / November 21, 2013

I like Squiocalypse — I just like his combination of cuteness/verisimilitude. Then Roland, then the Capybaras, then Totes Adorbs, then USS Bubbles. They are all cute, though!!!

  4. Rachele / November 21, 2013

  5. Megan / November 21, 2013

Eeek! So fun – I’d have to say Squidpocalypse is awesome, as I’m a fisheries scientist, but Roland is pretty awe-inspiring. :)

  7. Shannon / November 21, 2013

    Roland is awesome!

  9. Lauren / November 21, 2013

Well, that dinosaur with the tongue sticking out is pretty darn cute. I’m pretty sure regardless of what happens, this is getting added to my library. I need these little fellows in my house and I’m pretty sure these would be awesome presents

    O. My. GOD! These are so cute, here are a few of my favorites: Baby Cakes, Barry & Theo, Capybara Caravan, Cityzens, Lupe, Nesting Birds, Roary, Roland, Totes Adorbs, Tree-o & Squidpocalypse. BUT if I had to choose just one and only one – Lupe, because candy stuffed knitting & teeny piñatas. And I would totally hang this somewhere in my living room that need some color. A close second is Totes Adorbs. But if could only have one – Lupe! This book is so good. Thanks for the giveaway. Hope I win! Good luck everybody!

Thanks for the opportunity!

  28. Tiffany Perry / November 22, 2013

While my children would love the adorable capybara’s and the fantastic giant squid, my favorite has to be the giant submarine. The Beatles Yellow Submarine is my favorite movie, and this would make a fantastic yellow submarine!

  29. Jessica Hammock / November 22, 2013

I must say I adore the capybaras. They are so precious! Though Roland comes in at a close second. These patterns are incredible!

  30. Laurel1215 / November 22, 2013

I nearly hyperventilated when I saw Arthur. I’m an editor and so *must* make one with red “lead.” Must!

  31. Lynne / November 22, 2013

Roland is pretty cute, but I think the giant burger may be a must-knit for me.

  40. Joleen B / November 22, 2013

I love Lupe and Squidpocolypse. I would probably have to make the cheeseburger for my son who loves cheeseburgers. Thanks for the chance to win.

  41. Suzette / November 22, 2013

A knitted pinata? How clever is that? And a capybara? And a totem pole? Is there anything that Anna Hrachovec can’t think up and knit an adorable version of?

  42. Sarah / November 22, 2013

    Roland is my favorite!

  43. Juleen / November 22, 2013

My favorites are Big Mike and USS Bubbles, but really I want them all! Thanks for the contest.

  44. Show and Tell Meg / November 22, 2013

It’s such a hard choice – they are all so fantastic! I’ve been in love with the Capybaras since Anna showed them on her blog a while back, but the nesting birds are fabulous too :)

  45. Anna Hj / November 22, 2013

OMG! I NEEEEEEED that huge squid! To drive my car! It would be amazing!!!
These stuffed toys are amazing. =)

  46. Anna / November 22, 2013

    Squee, matey!

  47. Vanessa / November 22, 2013

I love the capybara family. They’re so cute!

  48. Sara / November 22, 2013

How can you expect us to pick just one??
I guess if I had to pick I would say Lupe. How can you not love a colorful pinata?
I also have plans to make Arthur, the huge pencil, for my daughters first grade class. So cute!

  49. Kim / November 22, 2013

It has to be Roland! I had a tank full of pillbugs as classroom pets in my (high school) biology classroom. Unfortunately, the cockroaches staged a coup, so the entire tank had to be emptied outside. At least my pillbugs got to be released in the wild :(

  50. K. Stephen Nelson / November 22, 2013

Squee the salty/sweet pirate. Being a single guy, this would fit my decor better than a giant bug or squid!
