One Skein Crochet Slippers

All it took was one skein of Wool of the Andes Bulky in Stormy and a free afternoon and SCHIZZAM! I have a brand new pair of women’s small/medium sized slippers! I used a size H crochet hook and Pierrot’s Warm Slipper free pattern scrounged from my Ravelry queue to make these cozy little gems. This pattern wound up being about a women’s 8.5 shoe size which is far and away too tiny for my big flippers, but they fit my mother perfectly.

It took me a little while to puzzle through the diagram because of the combination of complete rounds and partial rounds to give the slipper some shape but I eventually got the hang of things and kept my hook busy for most of an afternoon. I especially LOVE the big circle motif for the toe! That design element was what originally caught my eye and I’m glad my slippers wound up looking pretty much like the ones in the original pattern photo.

I especially loved working with Wool of the Andes Bulky for slippers. It has such a nice, springy quality, perfect for padding around on all the wood floors of my apartment. Are you stash busting these days too (or still)? I’m always looking for good, one skein projects to whip up and gift away to friends and family. I can definitely see using these slippers as a last minute “whoopsie-I-forgot-your-birthday-AGAIN” project.

They’re so pretty! Circle Motifs always catch my eye too! I’m imagining all the different color possibilities in this pattern as well. Love it!
