In Loving Memory

Xena has been a member of the Knit Picks family for as long as I can remember – serving as our iconic (and epically cute!) mascot, yarn ambassador and occasional actress.

Xena was also an extremely loyal companion, only straying from Kelley’s side to stroll the office and check out the day’s activities. She loved apples, being wrapped up in blankets and snuggling with Kelley as she was knitting away. And although Xena is no longer with us, we will always cherish our memories and look back fondly at her time with us.

In honor of Xena, we’ve collected a few photos from throughout the years for everyone to enjoy.

  1. Our Pom/Sheltie is also Xena and I know how deeply missed a beloved companion can be. She was a beautiful little girl and is spreading sunshine at the Rainbow Bridge. Woof!

  2. My dearest sympathy for Kelly and everyone. Xena was a precious lil’ pup. It always made me smile to hear her on the podcast. I’ll forever imagine her up in puppy heaven, running through a field of daisies.

  3. So very sorry for your loss.

    For Kelley’s Xena:

So go and run free with the angels
    Dance around the golden clouds
For the lord has chosen you to be with him
And we should feel nothing but proud
Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a lifetime will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have
Your face will always be hidden
    Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
    Shall never, ever depart
So go and run free with the angels
    As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take good care of you for me

  6. My condolences on the loss of your friend and companion. I too loved hearing her bark at the end of the podcast.

  7. My heart goes out to all, especially Kelly, my Abby was the same but Ebony version and not a day goes by without some memory of her

  8. So very sorry to learn of Xena’s passing. It is always hard to lose our beloved furry, four-pawed, friends. Having owned and lost many animals in my lifetime, it is always a tearful time when they go, and it never gets easier. Still, I can’t imagine life without them, and they add SO much love and happiness to my life, so animals will always be a part of my life. Is there another mascot waiting in the wings presently, or possibly in the future? They are all individuals and can never really be replaced, but the love of another can be brought in. :)

  9. It is amazing how animals catch our love and become part if the family. I always loved hearing about Xena and knit picks. My thoughts go out to you, and I am so glad I was able to share in a small part of this fluffy mascots life!

  14. It’s always heart-wrenching to lose a faithful, furry, 4-legged companion. Farewell, Xena.

  15. I’m so sorry to hear about Xena. We have a tiny toy chocalate poodle who doesn’t know she’s a dog, because we never told her. She’s the heart of our house. We found out about a year ago that she is diabetic and needs two insulin shots daily. Cocoa is a loved member of our family and I’d be lost if she wasn’t here.

  16. I have a rescued rat terrier who helps me knit and who snuggles in all sorts of what ever I am knitting, so I can fully understand your loss. You’ll miss Xena every day, however, her spirit will be with you forever.

  17. May you always keep those sweet memories in your heart. Our pets are our babies and I know how hard it is to lose them. God Bless

  21. I don’t understand, even at my ancient age, why our fur-babies have to leave us. We should all get to go at the same time. Sigh. I’m so sorry for your loss. She was lovely.

  22. I am so sorry to here about your little love. She was loved by many people. Your pod cast followers never saw Xena , but loved her.As long as there are people around to remember her she is not gone.

  24. So sorry, I recently lost a 4 legged, I can’t say I feel all your cumulative pain, I can say I have been there and send warm furry hugs and puppy kisses to you all… It comforts me to think mine has crossed the rainbow bridge and can see again and be happy.

  25. She lives always in the hearts who loved her; I have four little ones, a very elderly shihzu and a puppy shihzu, a schnauzer and a cairn. It is so hard to lose your companions, and I hope that another little pomeranian will perhaps find a home with Kelly… there’s always another out there hoping for a loving pet person.

  26. I’m so sorry for your loss. Animals become one of the family and losing them is twice as hard. Please know she loves you and that she’s having the best time ever on the Rainbow Bridge.
