In Loving Memory

Xena_1

Xena has been a member of the Knit Picks family for as long as I can remember – serving as our iconic (and epically cute!) mascot, yarn ambassador and occasional actress.

Xena was also an extremely loyal companion, only straying from Kelley’s side to stroll the office and check out the day’s activities. She loved apples, being wrapped up in blankets and snuggling with Kelley as she was knitting away. And although Xena is no longer with us, we will always cherish our memories and look back fondly at her time with us.

In honor of Xena, we’ve collected a few photos from throughout the years for everyone to enjoy.

  1. I can share in your grief. Our dogs are our children. I have a 14 yr old pom, who looks a bit like yours, with a serious congestive heart problem. Meds are keeping her going, but she’s nearly blind and can no longer hear very well. We love her so much. I can relate to you loss.

  2. This very day we are struggling with the decision about how to deal with our beloved pup who was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma. I feel your pain! Lonely days ahead, but no more pain. RIP Xena.

  3. She was beautiful. So sorry for your loss! Lost one of mine at 17 1/2 years old 4 months ago. Very fond memories, and the best to you.

  4. Oh Kelley! I am so sorry to hear about Xena! I have 2 Poms and they love apples, too. :). Dogs really hold pieces of our hearts. So sorry for your loss!

  5. So very sorry for your loss of a sweet baby. It’s never easy to lose one of our fur babies. They are with us for such a short period of time; which makes them even more precious. Time does heal the pain but we never forget them, ever!

  6. Each pet we lose leaves a hole in our heart that nothing can heal. Our best hope is to fill that hole with another pet to love. By my age, my heart must look like finely knitted lace with each hole a special animal that filled my heart for the time they were part of my life. I am so sorry that this adorable little one is no longer part of your life.

  7. I remember going to a yarn show in Portland and there was Xena riding around in a little schatel you carried Kelli. How sweet she looked poking her head out at all of us. Sweet dreams Xena RIP.

  8. Please tell Kelly how sorry I am to hear of her loss. I have a schnauzer that is somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 years. Don’t know for sure, she was a rescue, but I know I’m going to have to face this loss one day as well. They leave a hole in our lives, but wouldn’t change her being in my life. They are very loving companions.

  9. I’m a dog trainer/Behavorist for a living and it is always hard to say good bye to the furry family menbers. My condolences for your lose of the beautiful Xena. She will always be in your thoughts and your hearts, Forever.

  10. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my American Fox Hound, Dana, three days ago of a stroke (she was 12) so she’s waiting at the bridge, cuddling up with Dena.

  11. When you lose a beloved pet as this, it rips your heart out and only someone who has been through this truly understands how horrible it is. I am profoundly sorry for your loss.

  12. I am so sorry for your loss. In our extended family, we have had three such losses in the past few weeks, so we understand.

  16. I’m so sorry to hear this. How lucky she was to be loved and looked after by you all. And how fun for knitters to see pictures and videos of her plastered all over Knit Picks. Hugs and tea and sympathy to all of you, especially to Kelley.

  18. I’m so sorry for the loss of Xena. It is so hard, I know. I had to put my Pom of 9 years down a few weeks ago. I have wonderful memories of Jazzy that I will always have as you do with Xena. Poms are wonderful little dogs, aren’t they?

  23. When animals come into our lives they bless us with love and compassion so it makes it hard to let them go over the rainbow bridge,

  24. I lost my little dachshund, Sparky, this year and I can so identify with the pain you must feel, they give true, unconditional love. We think we give them so much but in reality they give us so much, it is a huge loss but you had huge love from the adorable Xena.
