Fun With Yarn

One of my favorite recent additions to the catalog has been on page two of the last two issues: the new glamour images under the table of contents and Alison’s letter. Heidi and I have loved coming up with new ways to feature our yarns in these fun little scenes each time.

In July, we wrapped some pretty little beach stones with those lovely new Shimmer Hand Dyed Lace colors, it was too much fun working with yarn names like Lamb and Buttercream! Buttercream is still my favorite yarn color, there is a perfect balance between the little shots of bright yellow and the lighter cream colors.

In this newest September issue, we took our inspiration from pin and thread words that have been floating around Pinterest and made some leaves to celebrate the new fall wool colors. We had fun picking which leaf shapes to imitate, but it took a few tries to get the wraps to make nice, pointed leaves. I would love to try forming words with pins and yarn down the line, I think that Shimmer in Polar has the perfect amount of contrast and variation to really pop against a nice white background.

We’re always trying to come up with new inspiration and ideas for the covers and page 2, is there anything you’d like to see? What sorts of things inspire YOU to get knitting? Let me know in the comments!
