For the birds

We love our fine feathered friends here in the Pacific Northwest – thanks to the TV show Porlandia, our unofficial motto is “Put a Bird On It”.  So I was delighted to knit and crochet a flock of birds for a great cause.

Our Full Circle yarn line is one of my favorites we’ve come out with – it’s such a soft yarn, a blend of Merino and Highland wools that would have otherwise gone to waste. It works equally well for crochet as well as knit projects.  I’ve made dozens of projects in each and just enjoy each stitch – the only sad thing is that it’s only here for such a short time!

And from now until May 1st, we are having a wonderful promotion – for you it’s saving 15% on the entire Full Circle yarn line – worsted, bulky and roving.  For our birdie friends, we are donating $1 of every skein sold to our friends at International Bird Rescue! (Make sure you check out all the great work they have done!)

Also for you are two free patterns so you can make your own flock of birds – one knit, one crochet! The knit one is by the fantastic Rebecca Danger – I’ve loved every one of the patterns I have knit up by her (and I’ve made a lot, as you may recall from previous posts!) but I have to say, the Chubby Chirps was one of my favorites.  I knit these guys in Full Circle Worsted in Royal, Tomatillo, and Mocha and a small amount of Chrysanthemum for the little beaks.

The crochet birdies are from Hannah Kaminsky‘s Birds of a Feather – which was my first crochet toy from several years ago!  I will say, my new ones look much better than my first few, now that I have better grasp at my crochet skills.  This pattern was super quick and she has a delightful story included on the pattern of how she was inspired.  Also make sure to check out her blog for more adorable patterns in both crochet and knit – not to mention details on her yummy vegan cookbooks.  I crocheted these in Full Circle Worsted in Fresh, Mocha, Royal, and Latte.

We hope you have fun making your own flock of springtime birds, while helping out the International Bird Rescue!
