Follow the Yellow Brick Road

I’ve only worked at Knit Picks long enough to design a few dishcloths, but it’s been a fun way not only to try new stitches, but to think of a story that goes along with each design. The story of Dorothy, known to almost everyone, was a great inspiration. The brick pattern (of knits, purls, and slipped stitches) is fun to work up, especially since you carry the colors easily along the way. I’m new to crochet, but adding a cute border on three sides (signifying the destination and the grassy edges along the way) was a fun way to explore a new stitch. If you’re new to crochet, I believe it’s easy enough to complete but if you’re nervous, maybe just border it with knit stitches in green for a similar effect. I found these tiny shoes I received as a baby gift a few years ago, and the whole thing came together in such a fun way. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
