Custom Crochet Sweaters – and a contest!

update 4/12 – Contest is over! Thank you for your entries – we’ll announce the winners later today!

As you can tell from my last few blog posts, I’ve caught the crochet bug.  I haven’t yet attempted a crochet sweater but I’ve been sorely tempted by a new book – Custom Crochet Sweaters by Dora Ohrenstein

The first part of the book is an overview of sweater construction – going over basic sweater types, choosing the right yarn for your pattern, and measuring your body for the perfect fit.  She also explains how to add shaping & alterations to existing patterns for your own personal style

There are also 10 absolutely gorgeous patterns; each has additional lessons included with them.  I must say, the patterns are what caught my eye, especially this one:

This is the Fiji Cardi.  I so want to do this in one of our new Chroma colors. I’m debating between Impressionist and Paperback.  Decision, decisions.

My other favorite has to be Uptown – a top down sweater with a pretty stitch pattern.  I think it would look great in Gloss DK (hmm, I do have several skeins of Fairy Tale in my stash at the moment…)

But really, they’re all are so beautiful!

This is a great book for both those looking to move beyond crochet accessories and for those looking for some new beautiful patterns. And you’re in luck because I have 3 copies to give away!  We’ll make the contest simple this time – just leave a comment on this blog post and I’ll draw 3 names on Thursday morning for the winners!  Good luck everyone!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts or on Facebook/Twitter will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments April 12th and draw the winners then!
