Crochet throw will be ready just in time for cold weather!

I cannot believe that my first crochet project started with this…

….to my actually adding a border. Thanks to The Happy Hooker and 200 Crochet Blocks, this has been a fantastic experience. I used Swish Worsted so it will be very easy to take care of this throw. Actually, I’m planning on giving it a good wash and tumble in the dryer after I get all the ends stitched in place. That will make it even softer. As soon as it is out of the dryer, I am going to curl up with Xena, a hot water bottle and a good mystery.

There were a couple of challenges towards the end. After I added the first “round” of blocks, I thought there was too much red. So, I chose a different block and worked with the green yarn. But, I have learned that crochet takes up a lot more yarn than knitting, so I ran out of the green. I did have a couple of skeins of the Squirrel Heather (grey). And, I found some more in the office stash! So, the outside ring of blocks has grey blocks on the corners and in the center of each side. Necessity truly is the mother of creative invention!
