Choose your own knitting adventure!

When I was a nerdy little kid (as opposed the nerdy adult I am now), I LOVED the Choose Your Own Adventures books!  Remember those? You are the protagonist of the story and determine the outcome by making decisions every few pages or so. I ate these up in my elementary and Jr High years and was excited to learn that my nephew loves them too so I could pass them along to the younger generation!

Well, obviously, I’m not the only one who loved these books, as one of my favorite designers Lee Meredith has a brand new eBook based on them!

I love that she got all the details on the cover just right!

Inside, you get to choose what type the trail you would like to take (which ends in a hat, fingerless mitts, cowl or coffee cup cozy). Then choose your tree (stitch pattern) and get going!  It’s so cute and so fun – and I can’t imagine the amount of outcomes you could come up with this cute little book.

As with nearly all of Lee’s patterns, any yarn weight or color will work with all the patterns – so you can use that special skein of yarn you just haven’t figured out what to do with yet.  Best of all, instructions are included to create your own little book from the the pdf!

I just love Lee’s patterns – her unique construction and option of using nearly any weight of yarn for her patterns makes them easy to gravitate to when playing with new yarns.  For instance, when we received the new Wool of the Andes Superwash, I decided on her Barry hat from her Short Stripes Trio eBook, figuring it would be a fun quick project to play with the new yarn.  Well I loved the pattern so much I had to make an additional one, this time in DK weight!

Both turned out awesome & I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to wear them!  The blue/grey one is in Wool of the Andes Superwash in Fjord Heather and Dove Heather.  The other is in Swish DK (Marina) and City Tweed DK (Tabby). I just loved the construction – and I love the stripes!  For the WOTA one, I just did it as the main pattern instructed; for the DK one, I did the other pattern option and switched the main color and contrast color around once I finished the brim.  It was such a fun & quick project and I can’t wait to do more.

So if you’re looking for some fun, interesting projects to work on, definitely check out all of Lee’s patterns!  Best bang for your buck would certainly be the Adventure Knitting: A Day in the Woods eBook – so many different projects you could do for $14!  But also be sure to check out her other IDP patterns as well as her Ravelry pages for more of her awesome patterns!
