A sale, and a full-sized Full Circle blanket

Earth Day isn’t until April 22nd, but we wanted to do something for the whole month of April to celebrate it.  Full Circle, our Special Reserve recycled wool yarn, is on sale for 10% off from 4/1 until 4/30.  After the sale is finished, Knit Picks will donate an additional 10% of sales to the Arbor Day Foundation.  A win for you, and a win for the environment!

Full Circle is one of my favorite yarns to work with – it’s a lofty single ply, the colors are richly heathered, and the finished fabric is soft yet sturdy with a pleasant wooliness to it.  After seeing the color samples arrive at the office, I decided that I wanted to crochet a blanket using Full Circle Worsted in Cardinal, Mocha, and Latte.

I’ve been crocheting a number of large blankets lately, probably due to the rainy and cold spring we’ve been having.  This project was great for couch crafting, as I had a huge pile of finished fabric to curl up under while I worked!

This is a monster-sized blanket that ended up being 65″ by 80″ and used 6 skeins of each color and a 4.0mm/size G hook.  I love the finished effect, and the chunky stitch pattern and colors remind me a bit of rustic Scandinavian textiles.  It looks great on my tweedy dark brown couch with a smattering of mismatched throw pillows – in fact, now I want to go right home and curl up with both this blanket and a good book.

Full Circle is available in both worsted and bulky weights, and you can also try it as roving if you’re interested in spinning or felting.  Also, if you’re stuck on what project to make, you can check out Ravelry for some ideas in worsted and bulky.
