Podcast Episode 33: Interpreting Patterns

Designers are individuals. We love their unique projects but sometimes their unique way of communicating can make us crazy! The thing is, patterns are just like novels. An artist throwing their view of the world out there counting on the kindness of strangers. You, the reader, or knitter, have the responsibility to participate in process. You interpret the writing in order to enjoy the story. As you work through a pattern it may be easy to understand, confusing or frustrating. It all depends on the style of the written instructions and how well you are able to interpret them

Podcast Episode 34: Summer Dreaming!

In cold weather, I’m quite comfortable knitting warm garments. But, before I know it, spring arrives and I have absolutely nothing hand knit to wear in the warm weather. What a disappointment! Old WiPs

So do you have one of those projects that you started forever ago but have never finished? And it’s still hanging around, staring at you balefully?  Well, I certainly do – it’s my Cables & Os sweater from No Sheep For You.

Designer Interview Videos

In addition to the great tutorials and videos
we have available at Knit Picks, we have also been working hard on
expanding our videos to include a behind the scenes look at new kits! If
you have ever wondered about the inspiration behind the projects or
simply want to hear more about the design process that goes into the
kits, you really have to check out the Designer Interview videos!

After all of the designing, editing, sample knitting and re-editing
is done and the kits are ready to make their debut, I ask our talented
designer Kerin
to give everyone an inside look into each kit. These designer videos
are really great for finding out which specific techniques, construction
and design elements are used as well as learning about any tips or
tricks Kerin
might have to make your project a success. I find it endlessly
fascinating to hear about the point of inspiration that started each
project alongside the final piece.

do continental if I so chose (but I enjoy being a thrower) but I’m getting
confused on some things that I think are probably easy but I’m just making it
difficult.
