My travel blankie/shawl is finished!

Travel Blankie Finished - 2nd Edit

Yippee! Happy dance!! I am absolutely thrilled with my new travel blankie! I was waaaay overdue for a good looking security blanket. I finished my old one about five years ago and, no, I am not going to show it to you. It has become Xena’s security blanket.

Shaimani's_Blanket

The original inspiration was Shaimani’s Blanket by Rosi Garmendia. Since the original was a baby blanket, I added an extra repeat to make the blanket a bit wider. I used Wool of the Andes Worsted in the Indigo Heather colorway.

Travel Shawl finished

This photo of my wearing the blankie as a shawl shows the color much better. Since the evenings have been cool lately, I haven’t had to wait until our trip in May to enjoy my shawl. I’ve taken it with me to friends homes several times. It has a lovely drape yet it feels sturdy. When I sitting on a chair cross-legged, it covers me up. And, when I’m lounging with my feet up, it has the ideal length to serve as a blankie.

Looks like a fun pattern to knit, and in a beautiful color. Will it (the pattern) be available on Knitpicks site?

Kelley, your work is beautiful, and what a fun project! Cables AND lace! Wow! WotA is probably my favorite yarn!
(Did someone misspell your name for you?)

Oh, I was so glad to see Xena’s name pop up on this post! I was thinking about her and hadn’t seen a reference to her in a long time. Kiss her little nose for me!

What a great project! I have to admit that I only make shawls as an excuse to carry a blankie around with me everywhere legitimately. Shh! Don’t tell anyone.

This is a gorgeous pattern!! I love the color, too. If I had to pick a purple as my favorite, that would be it.
