Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Book Sale, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com

It’s that time again: Book Sale! That means every book that you purchase from KnitPicks.com from now through October 9th will be 40% off! So, let’s look at some of the tastiest new books available, as well as some popular staples, to take best advantage of this great opportunity.

Exciting and New

Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Silk Road Socks by Hunter Hammersen, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Traditional Swedish Knitting Patterns by Maja Karlsson, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com

We see a lot of knitting books around here, but there are always a few that stand out. We were tipped off to the brand new Silk Road Socks by the author themselves, Hunter Hammersen (our Outreach Director Stacey knows a lot of delightful fiber people). This is actually more of a 2nd edition release; the original came out in 2011, early in Hunter’s publishing career. You might recognize her name from her wildly popular (including here at Knit Picks) Curls 2, and the new edition of Silk Road Socks makes it obvious how much Hammersen has learned in the last six years, as a designer and publisher. It’s a gorgeous book just to hold and browse with plenty of history and fiber lore in addition to an array of lovely patterns that are as beautiful as they are daring.

Traditional Swedish Knitting Patterns is among the newer releases by Trafalgar Square, which has come out with a series of our favorites (such as Mittens from Around Norway and Viking Knits & Ancient Ornaments). The classics take center stage for this book, with a host of time-honored patterns, from sweaters and shawls to mittens and hats. These basic designs are great for advanced beginners that have their basics down and are looking to add stranded colorwork to their repertoire, especially with a section of tutorials and tips (which also makes this a great complement to our newly released colorwork collections, Strands of Color and Encircled). Full of gorgeous, full-bleed photography and knitting minutiae (like the “fiancee mistake”, an intentional error designed to keep the Boyfriend Sweater Curse from affecting the smaller gifts made for your potentional future husband), there’s something for every kind of knitter. The books themselves are delicious artifacts, and, as a lifelong bibiomaniac, I can’t help but appreciate the crisp, heavy pages and sumptuous matte-textured hard covers.

Essential Bestselling Reference

Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary by Wendy Bernard, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Norah Gaughan's Knitted Cable Sourcebook, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com  Knit Picks Favorite Knitting Books - Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece by Gail Callahan, 40% off all books from KnitPicks.com

The book sale is always a fantastic opportunity not just to pick up the latest gorgeous knitting titles, but also to fill out any holes in your functional knitting library. You never know when you’re going to need that little bit of technical know-how to realize a brilliant but tricky idea or tease out the best way to execute a stubborn pattern.

The Up, Down All-Around Stitch Dictionary has become a regular feature around Knit Picks, useful for any time we need a new look or just to play around with a new yarn.

The Knitted Cable Sourcebook is one the most popular knitting reference books, with just about all you possibly need to tackle even the most gorgeously, crazily intricate cabling project (COUGH Morning Ramble Cardigan COUGH).

Reference books are also a cheaper way to explore a new technique or craft before you commit to the full compliment of tools. If you’ve been inspired by some of this year’s colorful handpainted yarn, like Stroll Gradient or Hawthorne Tonal, you might want to pick up a copy of Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece and dip an indigo-stained toe into the pool of home dyeing.

Bestselling Knit Picks Collections

And finally, when you can get every book from Knitpicks.com on sale, why not pick up our exclusive collections? At 40% off, our two bestselling collections, the Woodsmoke Cable Collection and Artful Arches, come out to only $1 per pattern. We’re proud of so many of the collections we’ve released this year (my personal favorite is 9 Lives) and these two are a particularly fantastic deal if you grab them before the sale ends on October 9th.

So why is Silk Road Socks listed on your website with someone other than Hunter Hammersen as the author?

      Thanks! We’ve fixed it!
