Crochet addiction…and a contest!

Contest is over!  We’ll contact the winners & and announce them on Monday 2/6

I’ve been addicted to crochet lately!  And it’s all because of Brittany Tyler‘s excellent Bullseye pattern.

I first discovered this fun free pattern (from the excellent Tangled online magazine) a while back when I had the notion of using it for all my sock yarn scraps (even though this is written for worsted – I’m crazy I know). After giving up that idea, I used it (minus the square border) for a basic dishcloth pattern.  Then when I was playing with some Chroma, Alison mentioned she did a granny square blanket out it and liked how Chroma worked up for crochet.  So then I had a new plan!

Chroma is perfect for the bullseye – each circle is approximately one color repeat & doesn’t really take very long (I finished one on a 2 hour plane ride).  This is in Chroma Worsted Pool Party and the border is in Swish Worsted from my stash. I can see some places I need to improve on (and Linda Permann gave me some great tips when I saw her at TNNA!) but I just can’t stop crocheting these squares!  Jenny K. liked them so much she asked me to show her how to make them too.

(this was taken in Arizona – it’s certainly not warm enough here for short sleeves!)

I’ll hopefully have my blanket done in a couple of weeks (I’m doing 4 squares by 5 squares) so I can show it to you all!

So in celebration of crochet, our friends at Interweave have kindly given us 3 signed copies of their newest collection, The Best of Crochet to giveaway to our blog readers!

If you like to crochet, this is a definite must have.  There are so many gorgeous designs by many top named crochet designers – I’ve been loving flipping through it, planning my next crochet project. I really love the Northern Dreams Pullover – I want to make it when my technique improves.

This also a great book for knitters who would like to dip their toes in crochet – there are a lot of great articles & tips included.  And each copy is signed by Marcy Smith, the editor of Interweave Crochet and the author of the book!

So if you would like to win a copy of this wonderful book, just leave a comment on this below by noon (PST) on Thursday February 2!  I’ll randomly draw 3 winners – good luck and happy crocheting!

Rules: One entry per person. Must have a US or Canada mailing address. No purchase necessary. All comments must be posted on THIS blog post. Comments on other blog posts will not be valid for this contest. We will close the comments Feburary 2 and draw the winners then!
