Under 100 Collections

I decided this is year to get my yarn stash under control. I have been pretty good the last year or so with using my stash for projects but then suddenly, several new skeins of yarn will find their way into my yarn closet and my bins will be overflowing again. A lot of my stash ends up being single skeins - yarn leftover from projects or a skein I just really needed to buy because it was so pretty. So when we came up with the idea of our Under 100 Collections, I was so excited - 40 patterns that all use under 100 grams of yarn!

Skip swatching at your own risk

We were out to dinner last night and it was a bit breezy and cold. It was ideal for the Swarm of Bees sweater by Lisa Kereliuk in Reclaimed. Just the incentive I needed to cast-on and get started. It's a good thing I took the time to work the swatches.

Addison

When we first started putting together Reclaimed, Addison by Thayer Preece immediately caught my eye. Rather unusual for me, since I rarely wear dresses (jeans & occasionally a skirt are pretty much my usual clothing choices) and most of my time, cardigans are my go to choice for knitted garments. Still, I kept coming back to it.  When I was writing about Reclaimedfor the blog, I finally decided I needed to make it.

KP Collections giveaway!

So, how do you like our lovely KP collections? It has been so exciting working on these - I spent 10 years working in a bookstore and I still have a great love of flipping through books. I personally think ours are just so beautiful - the designs, the photography, the layout - everything about them just makes me so proud to be a part of them.

City Tweed Collection

As the coordinator of our IDP collections, the biggest "problem" with my job is the fact that I am constantly surrounded by patterns I want to make RIGHT NOW. Case in point: last month we released Reclaimed (where I immediately cast on for Addison - I'm about halfway through the body) and the Wool of the Andes Collection (where I have the yarn already for Insulate). Now we've come out with probably my favorite collection to date - I want to knit everything!

Garter Ridge Hat in Stroll Tweed

About once a catalog cycle I hear myself saying "Oh... I should really make this one" as I hold up one garment or another from a pattern collection during a photo shoot. That list keeps getting longer and I find myself forgetting about them once the catalog mails and some gorgeous project photo catches my eye on Pinterest or Ravelry. This time however, I managed to mentally "earmark" the Garter Ridge Hat from the Light Basics pattern collection as a project that would make a a lovely hat for my dad.

Reclaimed winners!

So excited to see all the entries – I wish I had more copies to give away!  This was our first giveaway on the lovely new blog so I’m excited to announce our three winners! First up is Amanda, who chose 3 favorite patterns!  She wrote: Can I pick three? Is that cheating? 😉 I love the Addison dress but I’m not sure I’d have the patience to knit that much stockinette. Swarm of Bees is beautiful and from my experience so far, ...

Ballerinas in Pink

Michelle Miller has been part of the IDP program from the very beginning - her Knitting Project Bag has been one of our most popular patterns! I've known Michelle for several years now and last summer we discussed doing a collection of her beautiful lace work. She came up with a gorgeous proposal and the result is the stunning Ballerinas in Pink collection! Michelle was inspired by the artist Degas's series of impressionistic paintings from the turn of the century. (see some of the artwork here). Using a similar color palette, all of Michelle's designers are stunningly beautiful and a wonderful addition to any lace lover's pattern collection.
