Announcing the Winners of Our “Endless Summer” Pinterest Contest!

As a sentimental type, I want to first express how simultaneously wonderful and difficult the experience of judging this contest was. Looking at each board almost felt like meeting a person—some humorous, some artful, some obvious nature-lovers or foodies or film enthusiasts. I was particularly touched by the numerous personal (and fab) “vintage summer photos” of yourselves and family, no matter how unsure you were of your hair in the 70’s. As mentioned in the original post for the contest, I maintain that summer (faults and all) is a magical time; even for the myriad who aren’t winning a spiffy prize, I hope that entering this contest reminded you of that, even in the slightest way. Oh, and I’ll also add - I learned that VERY MANY of you folks are lovin' some Fifty Shades of Grey this Summer of 2012. I am positively scandalized!

Thanks everyone!  The comments are now closed & we'll announce our winners by 8/9! Yesterday, after we rolled out our brand new and lovely Sunstruck needles, I saw a reverberating message throughout our social media channels:  “Whelp! Found my (insert birthday/holiday/what-have-you) present!”. But why wait? What if you could win a full set of interchangeable Sunstruck needles?

Craft in Public Week Contest!

Comments are closed!  We'll send out the special coupon to all entires - thanks all! Starting this Saturday is the annual Knit in Public week! This was started in 2007 as a day for those who craft alone can get together with a bunch of other knitters! It has since grown into a week long celebration - this year it runs from June 9th-17th and if you go to the webpage, you can find events in your area. Well, we all love the idea of celebrating knitting in public - we do that already! (For instance, the reason I have so many handknit socks? I was on a train for 2-3 hours a day for my communte when I lived in Boston).  But why be so restrictive?  Many of us also crochet or spin in public too! So we're going to celebrate Crafting In Public with a new contest!

Noni Flowers – and a contest!

update 6/04 - Contest is over! We'll announce winners later today!   I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting knitting projects, so it was no surprise that when Noni Flowers came across my desk, I couldn't stop flipping through the pages! Filled with page after page of stunning photography of life-like knitted flowers, I was instantly mesmerized by the attention to detail that every flower was given. Designer Norah Bellows brings an amazing collection of knitted flowers to life, all while giving you guidance through techniques specific to creating these little beauties. Norah starts off by breaking down the anatomy of a knitted flower and then guides you through special techniques - such as how to create the stamen and how to add wire to your flowers.
