A Weaving Contest!

Thank you to everyone who participated! This contest is now closed.  To see who won, click here: Winners

I haven’t had a chance to do a contest for a while so when I heard that we had some weaving prizes to give away, you can imagine my excitement! Weaving is one of those crafts that I find immensely fascinating.  I could watch someone weave all day long without blinking — it’s that intriguing. Uniformity, structure, and tight lines are so appealing to me so when I see a woven project, I am immediately drawn to it. I mean, look at this beautiful scarf!

In this contest, I have two copies of FOUR different books and one DVD to giveaway!  The first book is Learning to Weave by Deborah Chandler.  Who needs to take a class when you have this book?!?  Learning to Weave is a wonderful resource for new weavers and offers friendly and straightforward instruction with illustrations and photographs that are thorough and clear.

The second book is called Weaving Made Easy by Liz Gipson.  This book is great because it not only serves as a quick and easy reference guide for beginners, it also gives you 17 simple projects to start with.  The scarf picture shown above is just one of the beautiful projects that this book has to offer.

The third book is called Hands On Rigid Heddle Weaving by Betty Linn Davenport.  The rigid heddle loom offers a simple and affordable way to produce many kinds of fabrics, from placemats to clothing to so many things in between.  This book really encompasses all of the skills that you will need to know when using your rigid heddle loom and supplies a great variety of fun projects to try!

The last book I have to giveaway is The Weaver’s Idea Book, Creative Cloth on a Rigid Heddle Loom by Jane Patrick.  Let me just say, this book is chocked FULL of inspiration! Just look at some of the projects:

Finally, I have DVDs.  The DVD set is called Warping Your Loom by Madelyn van der Hoogt. The DVDs offer trouble-free techniques for winding, sleying, threading, beaming and more.  Madelyn does a great job of explaining ways to make warping more smooth, serene and successful with logical, easy-to-follow steps that avoid the horrors of tangling, uneven tension, and lost threads.  This DVD is great!

Here’s how the contest will work: two first-place winners will get copies of all four books.  Two second-place winners will each get a copy of the DVD set.

To enter, just leave me a comment telling me what kinds of things you like to weave or what you’re interested in learning how to weave.  It’s that simple! The contest will end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 27th.  I will announce our winners on Monday morning.

Rules: One entry per person.  Must have a US mailing address.  No purchase necessary. Comments must be made on this blog post only.  Comments on other blog posts will not be counted.

Good luck!
