9 Things We’re Loving for August

Although we are experiencing a heatwave here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re staying cool with a few of our favorite ocean-inspired yarn, patterns and accessories. This month’s faves include everything from deep navy to classic cobalt and sky blue – we hope you love these as much as we do. Happy Crafting!

Hi Elise, sorry it took some time to respond! The short answer is that the Indigo dye kit is no more dangerous than a natural dye used in combination with a mordant to make the item colorfast. We also carry the Earthues Botanical Dye Kit. (http://www.knitpicks.com/accessories/Earthues_Botanical_Dye_Kit_-_Updated__D81145.html?media=blogpost)

Our staff member Hannah has extensive dyeing and would be happy to answer additional questions. You can reach her by emailing customerservice@knitpicks.com, with attn: Hannah in the subject line.

HI, I’m loving your yarns! Working with Chroma now and dreaming of getting Stroll Tonal and Pick of The Andes in the future. What I’m intrigued with is your bare collection and I was looking at your blue dye yesterday and I watched the video, but when I did searches many warned of chemical dangers. So while I’m looking at alternatives like Black Beans for a blue, I still wonder about your dye. It looks like a sure way to get exactly the color I want. So how safe is it? Thanks for your affordable yarn, can’t wait to get my hands in some “bare” yarn!
