Question every crafter secretly longs to ask their significant other. All our future evenings and weekends for the rest of eternity hinged upon his answer.
“Can I teach you to knit?” I rather hopelessly asked.
“Hmmmm .. no.”
Then, joy of all joys, a month later he enthusiastically exclaimed, “Can you please teach me to knit? I really want to learn!” (Lesson learned: give him time to mull). We took our needles and Dishie yarn to a local tea shop, and over a steaming mug of Brain Power tea, we dove into the wonderful world of cast-ons, knits and purls, as tickled strangers smiled at the cute couple crafting dishcloths together.
Book Sale is on! Do you love new knitting and crochet books? I love them. I find so much inspiration in books, whether they be collections of sweaters and accessories, books on new (or old) techniques, or books about…nonsense. I love making nonsense! By that, I mean mostly impractical items to keep or give away but that are pretty much guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of people who see them. When I found in Twinkie Chan’s newest book, “Crochet Abode a la Mode”, I started making just that. It might be my favorite craft book ever, and so far, I’ve made four projects from it. Check them out!
If you love learning new crochet stitches like I do, you will love making a Marguerite Dishcloth. Its clam shell spike stitch is alternated with rows of single crochet and waves of color throughout. In our new tutorial, Heidi takes you through all the key steps to making your very own version. Use the colors suggested or substitute your own, for a great pop of color in your kitchen.
