9 Ways to Wear the Reclaimed Collection

The first thing that struck me and my coworkers about the Reclaimed collection was how easily it could fit into our respective, varied wardrobes—which for us, means everything from yoga pants to mega-high heels. And isn’t that the true test of a successful handmade garment? Does it pass the “Will I Wear It” bar?

With that in mind, allow me to present nine interpretations of three gorgeous Reclaimed garments, as seen through the eyes—and real wardrobes!—of staffers Heidi (Art Director), Jenny K. (Multimedia Manager) and yours truly (Marketing Manager):

The Calistoga Tunic by Jill Wright
A wide welt sleeve pattern + zippered asymmetrical collar = a classic pullover with an urban bend.

BLANK CANVAS:  Heidi says, “When the artistic bug bites, I like to don an outfit that awakens the imagination. Spunky red pants, the asymmetrical Calistoga tunic and a palette of freshly-squeezed paints are just the ticket for afternoons of delightfully messy creations.”

Reclaiming the Fall – and a giveaway

Comments are now closed – Stay tuned for the winners!

Fall has always been my favorite time of year – even when I was young, I was always excited when September rolled around: the weather starts getting cooler, the leaves begin to turn, and hot apple cider and various pumpkin flavored items begin to appear in shops. (How much do I love fall?  Well this guy pretty much sums up my excitement)

The Lonely Tree Shawl

_DSC4907_medium2

One of the projects on my “someday” list has been a worsted weight shawl. I’ve always wanted to have a a touch of Kirsten Larson and Laura Ingalls in my life… even if the weather isn’t always quite right and I’m not about to be tossing one over my shoulders before I head out to milk some sassy milk cows in the dead of winter. At least not any time soon. Sylvia Bo Bilvia’s Lonely Tree Shawl has been in my Ravelry queue forever, just waiting for the perfect yarn to cast on with.

An old Favorite returns in time for Fall knitting!

As much as it pains me to know that summer is on it’s way out, I’m so happy to be getting back to sweater knitting for Fall. That’s why I’m over the moon that we’ve re-released the beautiful Lofoten Pullover!

This Norwegian-inspired unisex pullover is worked in Wool of the Andes Sport, making it super toasty and a much quicker knit that a traditional ski sweater. Right now we have kits available in Brown and Black versions, or you can use our Kit Builder feature and pick your own colorway!

Say “HI!” to the New Stroll Tweed

stroll_Tweed_Glamour_SE13

Check out our new Stroll Tweed yarn! Once, a few years ago we had a yarn with the same name, however we’ve gone back to the drawing board when it came to the tweed nepps since then and I’m delighted to show you what we’ve come up with! I love the rich color palette we’ve chosen and the new natural-colored flecks. I love using the Stroll family for washable fingering weight projects (especially baby sweaters!) and Stroll Tweed. The minute we opened the box of our photography samples I grabbed a bag of the Indigo Heather (the prettiest purple-blue I’ve EVER seen!) and got to work picking out a pattern.

The Light Basics Collection is Truly Timeless

Oh how I LOVE Kerin’s new Light Basics collection. I can very clearly remember the minute we unpacked all of the knit samples in the office. As each garment came out we all reached out to touch the beautiful, springy fabric of each garment. I definitely gave the Light Basics Pullover an extra squeeze and even a little hug to with a big grin on my face because that Capretta (as I’ve said before) just knits up into SUCH A GORGEOUS fabric!

Each piece in this collection is designed to be a simple, easy to knit and timeless addition to your wardrobe.

Something old, something new

When I went back to visit family on the east coast a few months ago, I had the opportunity to grab some hand-me-downs from my granny’s house. I was able to go back in time and send myself an entire box of my great-grandmother’s linens!

What amazes and inspires me about the treasure trove of table dressings I now possess is not just the quality of the work, but the quality of the care shown by my great grandmother and my granny over the last 75-100 years.
